Yellow Fever In India

Since the first recorded cases of yellow fever in India in 1871, the country has been home to an abundant mosquito population that is highly susceptible to this disease. Consequently, India has never experienced a high rate of yellow fever cases over the years.

But, There has been a recent increase in yellow fever cases in India. However, the disease is not detected in India and as such, it is difficult to determine the true extent of the problem. In 2016, there were 107 cases of yellow fever reported in India, which was a 62% increase from the previous year. The majority of cases (87%) were reported from three states-Gujarat, Karnataka and Rajasthan.
